We Need Brains!!!

I am pleased to report that the Zombie Houseswarming went without a hitch. Josh and Yours Truly I ended up with about 35 guests for the night which I thought was pretty good considering that it was just one party going on during the main Halloween party night. It actually turned out to be about the appropriate number of people for me, as I never got intimidated by the size but was still enough people to get a party rockin'. I would say that more than a third of the people that showed up, dressed in some sort of zombie garb while the rest were a grab bag of other Halloween outfits (from other parties going on the same night) or no costume at all. My friends Josh and Jessica stayed with me that weekend and offered the best costumes of all. Josh went as a hillbilly zombie (complete with corn cob pipe and real moonshine) while Jessica went as a cosplaying anime convention attendee (I think I got that right). I dressed up in a cheap suit and tie and went as a CPA zombie. This is the first time I've thrown a true theme party and I found it very amusing - the concept of coming up with a niche costume idea, advertising it, and then actually seeing your idea come to fruition. The zombies certainly swarmed the house this night...

I have to give the three Js (Josh, Jessica, and Julie) some props for helping me get ready for this thing. The cobwebs were a nice touch and all the running around town tracking down random items was much appreciated. My favorite moment of the evening was when I manned the fog machine controls (yes, I got a fog machine for this bad boy) and let her rip for about 5 continuous minutes. This was as the party was winding down and I somehow managed to engulf the entire bottom floor of my house with fog to the point where you couldn't see more than a few feet in front of you. It was like I was a beekeeper slowly smoking out the bees in their beehive in an attempt to steal their honey. I also managed to set off one of the fire alarms in the house. At least I know they work now. Thanks to everyone that was kind enough to get me a housewarming gift. The bottle of Bombay Saphire was awesome and the fifth of Jameson whiskey nearly did me in. Good times. Here is a link to Jessica's blog with a few pictures.

I've decided that Ethiopian food is the hangover cure-all. I felt like a new man after having the Addis Ababa meaty combo, even though a bird did poop on me during the walk there.

ick!
