About The Robots

What is therobots.org?
www.therobots.org is a multi-membered blog (or web log) that serves as a public writing forum for its various human authors (or robots if you like). Every robot has a different rhyme and reason for which they post new entries. Some post to keep distant friends and family updated with what's going on in their lives. Some post to fill future gaps in memory with the tidbits one might otherwise forget. Some post to inform the public of travel locations, music, books, films, websites, political opinions, etc. that they feel the world needs to know about. The underlying reason behind it all is simply that we just enjoy it. If you are new to the site, welcome and enjoy!
Who are therobots?
The best part about therobots is that it is a truly independent and global affair. Rarely will you ever see two robots together simply because they all live in different cities across the world, taking in a wealth of knowledge and experiences from different spheres of influence. After nearly three years in China, Adam will be moving back stateside, as of August 18th. He's returning to the fold of academia to attend graduate school in Portland, Oregon.Tara currently lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand, but has spent the better part of her adult life being transient. She's also lived in Australia, Japan, Montana and St. Louis - her own hometown. ick (Brent) lives in Kansas City, MO, Jim lives in St. Louis, MO, and Richard, who is also from Missouri, is currently living in Baton Rouge, LA, we think. He may be in Houston, though. Some of the robots post (alot) more than others, but we're all here somewhere!
When did therobots begin?
The Robots began once upon a time when RobotAdam decided to move to China. If you go all the way to the last page, you can see his very first post, on October 04, 2002. 11 days later he took off for Beijing. Tara started blogging in February of 2003, shortly before she ran off to attend grad school in Australia. Jimbot's first post was in July 2003, but we think he may have been around before that. Brent didn't join until 2004, but he's done a bang up job since then! We don't know when Richard joined, as we can't get him to post anything.
What does becoming a member mean?
Becoming a member of therobots means that you can have a profile associated with your user account. It also saves you the trouble of typing in your name everytime you want to post a comment. And we get to feel special knowing that people like us enough to give us their personal information. (which of course we would never use for dastardly purposes!)
How can I contribute?
There are a number of ways you can contribute to this site. Comments are encouraged for most entries to allow readers to interact with the writers and vice-versa. There is also a discussion board to maintain active dialogue outside of the confines of individual blog entries. All that therobots ask is that you keep all posts clean and tolerant of others. Spamming will not be tolerated.
