Space Shuttle Discovery STS-116 12/9/2006 night launch!

Here's a video I captured of the shuttle launch. It happened at about 8:46pm EST on Dec 9. The video was captured 6 miles from the launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, using my old Canon PowerShot A75, which unfortunately handles only 30 seconds per video clip. So, this video is stitched together from two such clips. Also, the first clip doesn't have audio, so the first half of the video is silent. Ah well. You'll probably also notice that the first half is especially jittery. That's because I was busy destroying my vocal cords cheering.

176

Kansas City Sunset

I bowled a 176 tonight. I only bowled a 67 three weeks ago after picking up a ball for the first time in years. I've never bowled more than three games a year my entire life. What does all of this mean? Am I destined to a lifetime of Friday Night Rock 'n' Bowls, nachos, and Def Leppard?

-ick!

Useful social services that provide RSS feeds

I very rarely write about tech things here; I don't know that anyone who regularly reads this would care that much. But I thought I'd point out a few things that I'm digging, and how they can be used. Once I get enough time to finish the upgrade to therobots, some of these will be used to provide some more information.

AudioScrobbler (and last.fm):
This system does what most social networking systems fails at - it allows you to use the system without doing any work at all. You drop a plugin into iTunes, XMMS, Winamp, or a bunch of other systems, and every so often it pings the AudioScrobbler server with what you've been listening to. Your listening behavior is tracked, providing you with charts, as well as recommendations and others that have similar tastes to you.
